Eating fat to loos fat. Yes you are reading correctly; Fat is much better than you think and much healthier you have learnt during your life.

Some decades ago a real battle against fat started. People was having cardiovascular problems and some scientist and doctors (backed up by the food industry) convinced the whole world to eat more carbs and cut the fats…. Results?? a overweighted population with the same of even higher rates of cardiovascular issues.

But you should know that not all fats are equal and not all fats are bad. There are even ESENCIAL FATS! Have you heard about esencial carbs? or esencial sugars? No? me neither.

So the point is that there are super good fats out there that are needed for your body. They all have very fancy names like Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats better known as “good fats” They are good for your cholesterol, heart and overall health. They can help with atherosclerosis prevention, abnormal hearth rhythms, lower triglycerides, heart disease and they help to fight inflammation. They can even help you to loose weight.

Other “good” fats are the omega-3s. They play a huge role in helping you manage your moods, stay focus and fight fatigue.

Eat more good fats:

So now is clear that good fats play an important rol in a healthy lifestyle and therefore you should adopt a diets higher in fats and lower in carbs and sugars.

Like many things in life, bad things come in the good guilty pleasures and this is a great example: Trans-fat come in baked pastries, cookies, donuts, pizza, fries, chicken nuggets and many other things that you might love to eat. But those are just the fats you really should avoid.

You want to avoid man-made trans fats as these don’t have any benefits and can be very detrimental for your health.

Here you have a good list of fats that are good for your health: stick to them!

Monounsaturated fats:

  • Olive, canola, peanut, and sesame oils
  • Avocados
  • Olives
  • Nuts (almonds, peanuts, macadamia, hazelnuts, pecans, cashews)
  • Peanut butter

Polyunsaturated fats:

  • Sunflower, sesame, and pumpkin seeds
  • Flaxseed
  • Walnuts
  • Fatty fish (salmon, tuna, mackerel, herring, trout, sardines)
