We all know it: Yoga is a trend. It has been very popular since the 60’s and it has become in one of the most trendy and popular practices all over the world.
You can find Yoga classes for any kind of people. For example, there is Hatha, Kundalini , Ashtanga, Iyengar, Bikram, facial, laughing and even nude yoga. It doesn’t matter which one you choose; at the end you will have lots of benefits. Let me tell you some of them.
If you practice yoga, you have already experienced some benefits just after a session. You feel calmer, more relaxed and with a clear mind.
But there is something much deeper going on within yourself as a result of a regular practice.
Let me name a few benefits of yoga:
1. Your breathing will improve:
Weather you practice sport or not, you will find out that your breath capacity will improve. I normally run 3 times per week and since I’m practicing yoga and Pranayama (breathing exercises) on a daily basis I feel that I can fly ! but also I’ve noticed that when I get nervous I’m able to control my breath easily and therefore feel calmer almost immediately.
2. You get more committed to yourself.
Believe me: when you start to practice every day at the same time (in my case, 6:30 am) it is very difficult to fool yourself and stay in your bed. Having a regular practice will help you to create an inherent discipline so you won’t skip your practice so easily.
You will get even more disciplined in every area of your life! Just try it, stick to your yoga practice for 21 days and you will become really committed to yourself.
3. Weight Management
Yoga is an excellent tool to manage your weight. On a physical level you are moving, sometimes sweating and doing a great work out and in a mental level it will help you to become very aware of what you eat, and how you eat.
Furthermore, you will have less cravings and will be more mindful when you have a package of chips or a soda in front of you. As a result you will loos weight in a very natural and conscious way.
4. You get closer to yourself.
When you practice yoga you learn to tune into your self. Your emotions, feelings and thoughts. You learn to listen to your body and you get much more connected to your Higher Self and to whom you really are.
A regular yoga practice will help you to accept things as they are. That does not mean that you will just resign your responsibility and not doing anything but it will give you the understanding to know that things happen for a reason and that there is a lesson behind any situation.
It gives you the power to go with the flow instead of resist the changes and the profound wisdom to accept and surrender and trust.
6.Peace peace and more peace
You will have this peaceful state of mind where getting into drama of discussions is just not part of your daily routine. You wont get easily into discussions in the traffic of with someone pushing your buttons.
This means that you will learn to take distance, breath and just step away. You become very aware of the energy around and learn how to just walk away and have an adult discussion when the heat has cooled down.
7. Lots of scientifically proven physical benefits
Yoga is widely accepted by the medical sector and many people get the advice to start a regular practice; Some of the physical benefits of yoga are:
- Helps to improve joint health.
- Improves your cardiovascular system.
- Reduces tension and fatigue.
- Great against depression.
- Helps to reduce chronic pain.

- Increases Strength and flexibility.

- And many more!

A great article Luisa. Yoga is amazing, but it can be difficult getting to a class in person. It’s great that you offer online videos for people to do at home in their own time.
